Verifying Systems with Infinite but Regular State Spaces

چکیده
Thanks to the development of a number of eeciency enhancing techniques, state-space exploration based veriication, and in particular model checking, has been quite successful for nite-state systems. This has prompted eeorts to apply a similar approach to systems with innnite state spaces. Doing so amounts to developing algorithms for computing a symbolic representation of the innnite state space, as opposed to requiring the user to characterize the state space by assertions. Of course, in most cases, this can only be done at the cost of forgoing any general guarantee of success. The goal of this paper is to survey a number of results in this area and to show that a surprisingly common characteristic of the systems that can be analyzed with this approach is that their state space can be represented as a regular language.

Symbolic Algorithms for Infinite-State Games
A procedure for the analysis of state spaces is called symbolic if it manipulates not individual states, but sets of states that are represented by constraints. Such a procedure can be used for the analysis of infinite state spaces, provided termination is guaranteed. We present symbolic procedures, and corresponding termination criteria, for the solution of infinite-state games, which occur in...
متن کاملUsing Language Inference to Verify Omega-Regular Properties
A novel machine learning based approach was proposed recently as a complementary technique to the acceleration based methods for verifying infinite state systems. In this method, the set of states satisfying a fixpoint property is learnt as opposed to being iteratively computed. We extend the machine learning based approach to verifying general ω-regular properties that include both safety and ...
متن کاملReconstructing and Extending Regular Model Checking by Refinement of Transition Relation
Regular model checking is a framework for verifying parameterized and infinite-state systems. Techniques for regular model checking such as quotienting require a well-specified transition relation where the invariant of the system is represented implicitly. To relax the restriction, we propose a technique, which we call refinement of transition relation, and reconstruct and extend regular model...
متن کاملExistence of solutions of infinite systems of integral equations in the Frechet spaces
In this paper we apply the technique of measures of noncompactness to the theory of infinite system of integral equations in the Fr´echet spaces. Our aim is to provide a few generalization of Tychonoff fixed point theorem and prove the existence of solutions for infinite systems of nonlinear integral equations with help of the technique of measures of noncompactness and a generalization of Tych...
متن کاملTowards Applying Mona in Abstract Regular Tree Model Checking
We consider the problem of automated formal verification of modern concurrent software systems. Dealing with such systems, which involves handling unbounded dynamic instantiation, recursion, etc., naturally leads to a need of dealing with infinite state spaces. We suppose states of such systems to be encoded terms with a tree structure and we would like to use the abstract regular tree model ch...
